I stopped paying any attention whatsoever to any subject off musical topic on the boards a long time ago. Last I did check, the average maturity level of political exchange on them--regardless of the actual opinions being expressed--usually descended to somewhere a light year beneath lowest common denominator. Not for me. You can't construct useful debate out of wall to wall unsubstantiated ad hominem attacks. As for style, yelling heads really, really annoy me.

I don't know those guys you mention, but I've had musical and literary exchanges with a few people on those boards that I've very much enjoyed. In fact, a couple of the closest and dearest friends I have I met through conversations about music and books on the old green and black BBS. That is also, indirectly, how I came to know Amy (my collaborator)...that was via the now gone NSMM board and a then common acquaintance.
