Bass's loaded

More bad puns!

If you've known me for any real length of time, you know that I've never cared about baseball. I don't watch it, I don't listen to it, I don't follow it online or in the paper. I haven't been to a game since I was maybe ten years old and don't really have any plans to start going.

But, this post-season business is kind of exciting. I don't know much about baseball, but I know enough to know that the Cubs and Red Sox having a shot at the Word Series is a big deal. Maybe even for some people, spiritual...or so their devotion to the team seems. Hell, half the cheering in Florida yesterday was for the Cubs!

I know this because I listened to both playoffs on the radio yesterday, while I finished building my bass traps. I guess I have decent timing. The first two games I follow in decades happen to be heavy. That Ramirez dude on the Cubs is a badass. True original bad man. All that scrimmaging between the Sox and Yankees is probably offensive to most fans, but it if nothing else, it raises the spectacle of the series to new heights. I don't know much about the legacies and rivalry, but clearly the stakes involve more than just winning and losing. It's fascinating, in a kind of depraved way. I can't say any of that paints a flattering picture of players--or managers--at the highest level, but it does lend more color to the game.

From what I could tell, credit should go to Jeter for being a true professional. Both those pitchers sound just a little like jerks...but what do I know?

Anyway, it's all gotten kind of interesting, and I found myself reading sports sites this morning. I'm looking forward to today's Cubs game. I hope they win. It should be fun. Plus, I can claim distant partisan connections, what with my dad living there for years and my oldest sister being born there and living there now. I like Chicago too. I hate Florida. Really hate it. No brainer on this one.

Sox and Yankees? Well, I love NY and have too many connections to it, but the team is sort of the ten zillion pound gorilla and I know it's fashionable not to like them, but I also don't especially care for what was on display with the Sox yesterday so...I dunno...Cubs and Yankees, and Cubs win it all?

Is that too much to ask for?
