Hoe cakes
Go here and buy the mix for Hoe Cakes. It's from The Lady and Sons Restaurant in Savannah, Georgia. She--the Lady--is kind of famous in cooking circles, so maybe you know about this, but by god the lunch I had there made me so stupidly happy that I've still not regained my facility for sober speech. Fried green tomatoes with this red pepper sauce and hot mustard, black eye pea fritters with some kind of ketchupy sauce, and hoe cakes. I've still not recovered. The Ajax Diner in Oxford, Mississippi only made matters worse. I'm afraid I'm going to have to move to the south. Nice knowing all you coastals! Make the cakes and pour maple syrup over them. Eat, and die happy. |

Who are you ? What is this? I just typed our name in Yahoo and this came up. Ajax is my place. Randy, You should be proud. You have a fine establishment. You sound a little distressed and I'm wondering if you mistook my post. Read this if you're in doubt: http://www.penaltykicker.com/shotsongoal/archives/000198.html I ate there one night a couple of months ago during move-in week. I and a friend drove 5,000 miles around the country and Oxford, Mississippi was an important destination for me on account of my Faulkner and blues fascination. The rice/beans eggrolls were fabulous and the mixed plate of different veggies, mac and cheese was sublime. Service was nice and friendly too. That's what I was getting at in both posts. I'm a musician, producer, animation editor, DJ, sometimes writer and overall just some guy with a website and a weblog (it's like an online journal if you're not familiar with the form) who writes about his life. I took the trip, wrote a bit about it, and most of my regular readers are up to speed with all this. I suppose I get just enough traffic to push this site fairly high up (number 6 on Yahoo) the rankings for "Ajax Diner" searches. I checked it, and I can see why you got upset (if I read you correctly). The first line looks negative, but if you read my whole post you'll see I'm clearly praising Ajax Diner. The other post will confirm that. I look forward to visiting your restaurant next time I'm in Oxford...and I do plan to return for a longer stay soon. Cheers, Pieter Pieter, No I got ya right. I was honored to be in the same paragragh as Lady and Sons. Thanks for the plugs and come see us. Randy |
