Contribute 2

Macromedia launches Contribute 2, its $99 entry into the web publishing market. Some of the features are novel, and would make worthy additions to some of the other more popular (and sort-of free) web publishing tools. It seems to be tailored for content creators in a collective or corporate environment, and assumes a division between those creators and site admins, but that in no way limits it. In fact, I sometimes remind myself that Movable Type and some of its competitors are in fact much more than just blogging applications for people who want to write a personal journal. They are powerful tools with enormous potential. I've hardly begun to exploit the potential of MT, but having gotten into the guts of it a bit, it's clear how much a broad-thinking admin could use it to creative ends. |
