No more Premiere for Macs
|
|
Adobe has ended support for Macs in the new version of Premiere. I'm not surprised. Adobe cites both "financial considerations" and Apple's increasingly aggressive move into the video editing software business. From what I've gathered just listening to home users of video editing software, Premiere has become a major player on the Windows platform, and under pressure from Final Cut's rising profile in the industry, Premiere's professional utility must be declining badly. Macs are of course the industry platform of choice, and given that most editors are either using an Avid or Final Cut, there's not much room left for Premiere. My job is one of the few professional jobs where I'd imagine it still has currency, but my job is peculiar. I'm not sure where this will leave us Story Reel Editors in the future, but I'm not worried. We're adaptable. Thank you Brock for the link! |
